I've hot soaked mine, and now today hot washed them and I can tell you in total I've had a 1/2" shrink in the leg. The crucial pre-wash, pre-sewing knocks most of that out.
Actually they are about 10" now after the hammering I have given them Rudie, but I will bump up the pattern a little wider for the wabash, and 12oz summer range.
The crease in dress pants also makes a difference because it gives more shape. So from the side a pair of crease trousers will look wider and a pair of uncreased pants sometimes looks like a "bootcut".

This wasn't meant as criticism, just an observation. My Old Town cord trousers also have a 10" hem and look much narrower than my suit trousers with the same hem width. Must be because wool drapes better.
Cools. I ordered mine long so I could have them cuffed, but I want to get a proper, sewn-in turnup to maintain their 'trousers not jeans' look. Won't be going for this to the alterations place that did some trousers for me and somehow interpreted my detailed, patiently explained request for a turnup as "a big hem"..... D'oh!
