If this is going to be made again, can the collar be made to the original WW2 pattern? I've never seen that done and would love one to match the original style.

Skull patches. Needs 'em. Now, I would definitely offer both with and without, because it's clear there are SJC buyers who want without, but for me the patch is one of the things that makes them different than the versions of the same elsewhere - and therefore more attractive.

I have acquired a couple of these - superb sweaters. It is always the patch that garners the most attention. From what I've seen, however, good quality plain cream and navy submariners are easy to get your hands on at reasonable prices. Might be worth trying some different colours, avoiding any potential competition (or previous SJC submariner purchasers) and standing out from the crowd. Perhaps even a few details to differentiate from the run-of-the-mill knits out there.
How about some subtle accent stripes, a la.... ![]()

I like that. With a WW2 style collar and in a short enough length, that'd be superb.

I'd quite like bottle green. The navy blue and the cream are everywhere - not to say SJC shouldn't do them, but it might be cool to have an alternative colour that not everyone does as well. Goldtop do them in black now, which looks good.
North Sea Clothing already do an Orange Submariner and a Brunswick Green one.
NSC Submariner And Aero Clothing have literally just launched a green roll neck jumper (ignoring that the historical aspect appears to be complete fiction): Aero thing This is why, in my opinion, a genuine WW2 pattern version would be best for SJC as nobody makes one that matches the actual pattern. The collar is different - it isn't a roll-neck in the sense that we see them today. The last one that got close was Anderson-Anderson, but they've fiddled with the pattern and there's isn't right now. Edit: You can see from this that when it's rolled over, how low the collar actually is. When you see it right up the neck, it isn't rolled over. This photo shows that well: RN Submariners - HMS Seraph. |
