The next run of these shirts has collar flaps which point more downward, rather than splaying horizontally outward as in Nik's photo above.

Yes they were. With jackets if over the collar I find it very odd, confusing and busy to my eyes with all the points aiming to different place. I prefer the collar to sit the same way as the jacket or I won't wear it over it. You can't go by fit pics. There's too much variation, all the different ways of how the collar can sit due to neckerchief present/absent, exactly how far the collar is laid flat etc. Last year's summer polos, when folded flat and buttoned, had almost exactly a 90 degree angle of collar spread. The longsleeve polos have less than 90 degree of collar spread (like 80-85 degree). This year's summer polo will also have less than 90 degree, and the samples measure out to 90 degree. Even the samples don't have that horizontal spread unless the collar is folded really flat (as in the lemon polo shot, above). Note how the uppermost part of the placket is folded outward. Just to reiterate, but now with pics: I wasn't thrilled with the collar spread on the long-sleeved Oviatt polos. I'm happier with the narrower spread on the long-sleeved winter polos (though the gap could be even a bit narrower, IMO), and I hope that any future run of Oviatt polos will have that narrower spread.

Simon, here is the exact collar shape, opening, and length I'd suggest for future SJC polo shirts, short-sleeved and long-sleeved:

I was lucky enough to try on one of the new style polo shirts today when Simon took a small delivery from the factory to check the sizes.
It was very nice ... and I can't believe I didn't order the black! it is really nice.

Simon tell us if the sizing on the website is correct or if the measurements change a bit. I would like to know that to finally order them.

Sure, i believe they are spot on but i will double check them carefully tomorrow. As Sean said they have turned out to be very nice. Standby.
The Sizing ^ is exactly as seen on the site. Please go ahead Willy the cut is really good.
Polos ship out of China 20th June. Will be shipping out of London 25th. The Collar has been addressed for this new iteration. ![]() |
