Her name's Hayley, isn't it? She's a friend of a friend. Didn't know she did modelling. That all looks fantastic on her. Is that a ladies cut version, or are they just that flexible?
BTW, have we got a delivery date for these yet? Looking forward to my new short sleeves...

The trousers do look good on her (most things would, she is tall and well proportioned) however, I do feel a separate pattern, designed specifically for the female form, would improve the look.

There is the German forum of Swingstyle: http://www.return2style.de/homepage.htm Fastuni is (or was, I haven't logged in there recently) a frequent poster there. There is a fair amount of female posters there, with their own subforum. It's a small forum, though. Don't forget that the ladies' subforum of TFL pretty much keeps to itself; I think it remains quite different from the male-dominated sections. If you happen to know a frequent poster there...

The Fedora Lounge might be a good place to start, though you'd probably have to figure that one out, as many of the ladies on there are largely self-segregating into a women-only space. Otherwise, probably most of the same spaces as for the men's stuff, in the offline world. One note of caution before you go offering too much in the way of ladies' wear: unlike for the men, the ladies' repop market is much better catered to, with a number of very affordable options as well. I'd suggest concentrating on a small number of ladies bits which could be used as much to draw the eye of ladies who might them buy SJC for their menfolk as to the bits for themselves. That said, if you can sell the ladies on looking this good in the same pattern, you could potentially markedly enlarge the market for the same bits with no additional patterns. How did the Bad Kitty jeans / jacket sell? If you were going to target the rockabilly circuit with a stall at the likes of Rhythm Riot next year, that could be worth considering if you especially wanted a run of stuff for the ladies.

And other, high-profile ladies on the scenes.
I wodner is there a period-appropriate night club theme that you could get in with the organisers.... I'm thinking something that draws the "real" vintage people rather than for an occasional fancy-dress do crowd. Like Lady Luck back in the day. Sort of place where there might be an opportunity for corss-promotion, or even an SJC night out, with all the boys in full SJC gear. Think of the impact if a half a dozen of us hit the right night in the suits when they arrived.... just as a for instance. Bit of word of mouth buzz. Find the right ladies for this and it could be helpful. Brand ambassadors. Taller sizes I can recommend a great lady for; that's something that seems to be an issue for some girls on the scene who are a bit on the tall side for a lot of the repop out there.
RE: drumming up interest from the fairer sex, I'd get a couple out to Annelise Van Overbeek again. At this time she has over 232k followers on Instagram, and the last time she posted featuring SJC polos they received over 6k and 15k (!!) likes. That is some seriously significant exposure!

She's been complaining recently about Instagram changes that lead her posts to be less seen. I don't know what was changed in the algorythm but it's true she's getting less likes than ever and that's only Instagram's fault. Few ladies has the big amount of followers she has and haven't been on media but I would have them in mind too. To be honest there are a lot of vintage ladies out there that would rock the polos and chinos and have a good amount of followers. Some are also interactive with the comments on posts and all. To put a few examples: https://www.instagram.com/nelson.anyways/ (She takes amazing pictures and also hasa boyfriend who dress good as well, smaller pool of followers) https://www.instagram.com/ritahayworthy/ (She has a good amount of followers and is into WW2 stuff too, she's lovely and rocks many different eras although she's not a blogger per se) https://www.instagram.com/elegant.giraffe.vintage/ (She also takes great photograhies and has a godo amount of followers) https://www.instagram.com/missvintagelady/ (A good amount of followers and she's a blogger, great photography) https://www.instagram.com/theblackpinup/ (She has been at Pitti and photographied by many people even the NYtimes fashion and GQ. If you get to someone like her who surrounds herself with the Stylefo people and the like there might be a door open but we all know how snobish they can be) https://www.instagram.com/papermothballvintage/ (Her photography skills are just amazin and also a good amount of followers. She shoots real models that work for agencies) https://www.instagram.com/Idacath/ (She's just amazing, as simple as that, she might have one of the greatest dress collection out there and she doesn't play dress up, she just lives and breaths in vintage clothing. I don't know if I've ever seen her in anything but a dress or blouses and skirts) https://www.instagram.com/charmtighe/ (She combines different styles and does great shoots, I believe she's british) The list could be endless... I think you need to approach those ladies that are also connected with the fashion world (Modern brands, Photography, Magazines, Pitti Uomo...) you know, your polos are timeless and classic. Can be liked by everyone. For example I know Ethan posts on Styleforum and no one has said anything bad about your polos when he has shown them and you know how brutal they are over there. Also some of the vintage ladies on the UK whose boyfriends and friends wear your polos...I think they would gladly help taking a few pictures. I've been seeing recently on instagram stories from the vintage guys over there a lot of SJC polos. |
