Got accused of being 'French' wearing SJC 'Gear' inc Rust Polo at a 'Biker' event today..thanks Simon :-)
Yep!!! French!!! Go figure :-) Hopefully not an onion seller!!!! 'French Resistance' would be a compliment. Mind..the 'Bikers' who passed comment had nothing to 'shout about' in their stereotyped 'denim & leather' 'Get Up' (not that can't be well done..but they didn't).
Just as well I wasn't sat on my Vespa eh? :-)

Try a stiff upper lip instead of a cowboy hat next time if you want them to recognize you as Englishman.
![]() Must be brutal there right now. I was at a seminar in Las Vegas in August a few years ago. Arrived on Thursday evening and left before noon on Monday. Monday was the first day I left the safety of the air condition and ventured outside. 42°C in the shadow was just too much for me. Beats me how those people could sit at the pool directly in the midday sun getting pissed with cocktails.

Stiff upper lip! Only Mad Dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun. I don't, I hide in the shadows, walk the long way so that I can stay in the shade. But that isn't always possible in the desert, there's nowhere to hide. The hottest I experienced was 113degrees F (45C), most days were about 42/44C.

You wore jeans and a jacket in that heat? That perfectly qualifies as a Mad Dog, don't you agree?

You try wearing white or cream linen bags when out in the dust of the desert - especially when scrambling over red rocks! They would turn pink in seconds! As for the jacket, I didn't have anything else with long sleeves (apart from a cream linen jacket) and didn't want either my jacket or my arms to end up pink.
P.S. I won't be wearing the hat back in England. |
