I also would buy a pair of Vaugan trews with a wide leg. The current ones are fine, I wear mine very often, and are not that narrow than feared, but a wider leg would be highly appreciated.

Btw while the grading in the second work suit is much improved,
I liked the front button arrangement of the old one more, with the buttons closer together. I think in this respect it was closer to the original and a bit more elegant. Having said that, if you feel this tweak can throw the grading out of whack forget about it.
I agree. Keeping the top button at the same height so the lapels stay the same but raising the two lower buttons would look even better.
I would like to know if the vaugan garments shrink as much as the chambray or do they stay true to the size charts? I am especially interested in the measurements for the waistcoat, sizes 40 and 42. Can anybody provide measurements after washing? Thanks.
I got the 40, while I don't have before measurements it did not shrink much.
With the cinch loose pit to pit just short of 21 inches back length 22 inches, with front points 23.5-24. Edit: just compared with the chart now and it is almost exact. Well done Simon for running a tight ship.

Will probably order the jacket in the next few days. Am I correct in understanding that there is no or very little shrinking (the thing is that 36 is a bit too small and 38 a bit too large so I was kind of hoping that a few parts would shrink)?
Not a lot of shrinkage (I soaked my pants in boiling kettle water for 2 hrs), but If you go 36, soak cold and hang dry.
Here are my pants after 2 rounds at the tailors: ![]() I wont be wearing a shirt tucked in with them as they are still too big up top. ![]() By taking in the side seams I lost the use of the pockets. I'm not happy about that, but if we didn't sew them up they stuck out like elephant ears. My take- don't size up!!! Also, my top button needed to be moved over. As it arrived, the fly looked undone. It still bunches up strangely in the crotch when I sit. Maybe something can be done to fix that going forward.
My experience is limited to trousers, but it seems the choice is made for you.

My estimate is that the trousers fit a bit generous, up to half a size up which is fine for anticipated shrinkage and for wear with braces. Taking the trousers in to a size down certainly is not an unusual alteration.
Which leads me to: what sort of alteration requires the removal of pockets? That sounds a tad bizarre to me. The jacket is also true to size, but not slim fit. I have overall found the measurements to be accurate.

I believe pockets may be affected if you want to narrow a trouser's leg width by a great extent, but taking down a single size is a perfectly manageable alteration.

My point is that they are cut "generously". If you "size up" there is a lot of fabric. I should have gone at my normal size of 32, but ordered 34 as recommended. Maybe even a 30 would have worked- my very expensive mistake.
