Riding the S-Bahn back home from a seminar. A little girl keeps looking at my shoes (1950s NOS russet Wearra oxfords), then leans over to her mum and whispers: " The man looks as if he's been living in a castle."

The second best thing to living in a castle is looking like you do!
![]() Pat, I like the combination of blues in your outfit. I enjoy incorporating a touch of military surplus in my wardrobe as well, I am assuming that's an ex-airforce jacket? I had the good fortune recently of finding this vintage jumper at a carboot sale. It would be great to own a couple of SJC ones along similar lines! ![]() ![]()

Nice Jumper, Metatron.
You`re right, I am wearing a 1950 dated RAF BD Blouse in the picture. Sureplus is a good source for some smart garments like those short jackets, I think... ![]() Are you wearing swedish army trews or danish ones with the jumper?

I had a bizarre one a couple of years ago. I was in a shop and the woman behind the counter was struggling to express her thoughts on my outfit. Then she said: "you remind me of one of the fonts you get on the computer." I thought it was an odd comment, then she explained that you get certain fonts that were popular in certain periods - and I reminded her of that font because of how I was dressed. It all made perfect sense ... yes, she was coming from an unexpected angle but I realised it was a fantastic compliment.

New 'made in California' jacket from Levinsons. Love it. Trying to find some old photographs of people wearing these for inspiration so if anyone has anything they're willing to share I'd great appreciate it. (This is my first post on these forums by the way, after a lot of lurking. Hello!)

Actually I own a pair of the Danish trousers, and had a 'false turn up' added, (A pinch of cloth folded into place to simulate a cuff). But these are modern wool trousers by Timberland. Neueliebe, I think you nailed it, but I will dig up some pics of short jackets worn back in the day for inspiration.
