Ok hear me out here… Simon, I seem to remember you were keen on a flash-mob style of campaign a while back? Great - sure to pick up some attention and prick up the odd ear here or there, but its all rather intrusive isn't it. And the aforementioned travelling around the globe holding events does not sound cheap. How about combining aspects a mass gathering with your trunk show idea? Send out an invite to forum members / mailing list subscribers / everyone that has ever purchased one of your products to meet at a prearranged location in a given city, doesn't have to be anywhere booked but large enough to accommodate a group. Thinking of London as thats what I know, somewhere like Balham Bowls Club that you've used for some photos before would be perfect. Or perhaps a gig, or a bbq / picnic in the park with a iPod playlist. You know, just something that isn't going to cost you an arm and a leg from the offset to organise (without that all important guarantee of success)! Insist that all in attendance (no-matter what style / era / fashion sense they lean towards) incorporate an SJC item in their ensemble. Kit out a few guys (usual familiar faces, if they're happy to) in the upcoming season's pieces, be it first samples or final ready to hit the production line items. A load of well-dressed SJC-clad guys and dolls all in the same room is sure to cause some commotion. Anyway, two definite plus points for you; 1. potential customers get to see, feel, maybe even try on or at least size-up everything in person… lessening the slight guess work or minor doubt aspect that comes with online buying (particularly with the high ticket items). You might end up with a few extra suit sales for example. Also offers non-forum members the opportunity to throw in their tuppence on design. 2. Bring a photographer and you end up with a wide ranging, 'real life' SJC look-book. Easy enough, you know the score... full body shots up against an aesthetically pleasing wall. Group shots. The odd candid photo. It'd be a fantastic way of showing future customers the diverse ways in which the current clan wear your clobber. These events could also be a great way to get rid of old stock, selling to appreciative return customers rather than the endless online sale-on-sale-on-sale. Special prices for the folks that have made the effort to come out and share their opinions. You don't have to bring stock with you, just a clipboard for details and if a deal is good enough people are sure to follow through (or maybe even one of those new fangled wireless card machines in your chest pocket for instant payment?). Personally speaking, it was the knowledgeable, considered, community driven decision making aspect that made SJC stand out and drew me to what you were doing. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I think these sorts of get-togethers could be great fun and really instil that community spirit.

Although not a 'public location', you could arrange something at Olivier's pub and invite along everybody from the forum for a party, plus send invites to people on the London scene. It would be a great location and great fun.
All to a soundtrack of garage bands ...

I believe 'Bullshit Detector' was later the title of a compilation album (possibly on Crass Records?).

It was indeed - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullshit_Detector I'm not familiar with most of the acts on it - I was rather a fan of the class of 77. My 80s awareness, such as it is, leans more to the West Coast scene (DKs and such) - though that's limited too.

There have been some very exciting discoveries for me with the SJC range of colours. Mustard has definitely been the biggest surprise in terms of a colour that is so strong yet goes with such a wide range of stuff. Then there have been the pieces that looked like Nice Basic but just really shone when they arrived, like the black polo. Something about it....

The mustard tone is not loud at all, in my book. Yes, it's strong, but combines well. I would classify it among the "mediums"; in between "safe" colours like dark blue or white, and more daring ones, like yellow or royal blue.

Today I'm wearing an M&S navy blue linen suit with a Tony Bahamas silk eloha shirt, and tan and white penny loafers.
I am, however, wearing socks - because I am neither a hipster nor an escapee from [i]Miami Vice[]/i]. #saynotorolledsleeves
