On this particular thread, but in others throughout the forum, there are pics of people mixing and matching. I'm terrible at it.
Any chance of a single thread/link on the store site not only of the items in their natural habitat, but also mix and match so those of us who are challenged can take some inspiration?

Colors and patterns... particularly SJC items as a way of promoting his items and given people like me some inspiration on how to maximize outfits.

That's something I intend to do as soon as I'm free. I guess you're looking for images of SJC and vintage mixed as well as mostly-SJC outfits, if not SJC head to toe? One thing that amazes me every other day is how extremely well thought out the pattern and colours of the SJC wool 33 jacket (and the Mackinaw) are: It corresponds incredibly well with anything grey, blue, red/maroon, and black (unless the colours are too vivid). That's not surprising as those colours are part of the pattern/set. It also complements browns and tans nicely. It is OKish with olive, and doesn't work particularly well with greens. That is one of the main reasons why I've been wearing the 33 jacket practically every chance I get. Great work, Simon! :-)

I have mine a bit abandoned. I had to alter the sleeve lenght and also wanted to do some sort of button cuff but It stayed there for 2 winters. I'm not getting rid of it though, it's just like wearing pyjamas , so comfortable!

Correct. I have quite a few pieces now in my collection from SJC, and I'm the guy that tends to wear the trousers with the jacket, and not mix colors/styles, as an example. There've been a few pics on Insta that have been inspirational - "Oh, now those two things together look great!" - and I think a dedicated page of SJC pics of the outfits, how to mix them, would encourage people to buy at least a few pieces, if not entire sets, knowing they can get multiple looks out of them.
I love mix and matching items. I mix my SJC pieces with vintage and other brands.
@PatrickHall is very good at it. For example I take inspiration from him, the colour patterns the mix of 30s styled jackets with the narrow trousers, etc. I always had the mindset that a 30s jacket could only work with wide leg trousers but I was wrong. It's just a change of mentality to try stuff and adapt. For example: Patrick Hall flannel King Cole jacket with narrow trousers Patrick Hall Riviera DB blazer with Narrow flannel trousers and loafers If you want inspiration go through his feed!

Mixing and matching may be an art form, but there are some basics that are not too difficult.
1) Try to think of fabrics and textures (surfaces) first, then patterns, then colours. Once you realise that the texture is more important than anything else, you'll find many surprising combinations and you may also realise why some other combinations didn't work. 2) Don't think, just use your eyes. 3) For inspiration, look anywhere. The Japanese have what could be called a culture of mix and match when it comes to clothing. Historically, they wrote the book. Their way of combining original vintage, vintage style repro, contemporary streetwear (and sometimes high end fashion, there were many varieties) all in one outfit has a long history. You may think that what the Japanese do is an imitation of western styles. That may be so but actually, there is more truth in the reverse - they started an Americana revival of fashion long before the Americans did. ![]() • David McQ, Edward2.0, Guillermo, metatron, Pat Spade, Royohboy, Sean Longden, TheContinentalOp, Tommy

Texture. Yes, it's essential for me. I don't like to wear a smooth silk tie if I am wearing any knitwear. Or if I am wearing a rougher tweed jacket. Instead, I want a knit or a dull looking, rough weave. It can work, but as a general rule I try to avoid it.

I think a good rule is: Don't be afraid of making a mistake. Some of my favourite outfits to wear came about because I lifted the wrong thing, underpacked by mistake, or spilled my lunch just before a big night out and had to change...
