Aero 30s halfbelt in Horween's brown Chromexcel horse. My only non-vintage leather jacket.
The Chromexcel is such a distinct hide, I'm not surprised that Guille spotted the maker. (11-05-2018, 08:21 PM)Rudie Wrote: Did the stock pattern fit you, Nik? I bought it used and I can't be sure if it's stock pattern. Looks that way, though, and there were no indications to the contrary on the Aero sale page where I bought it. It's size 36 with 20.75" chest, 16.75" shoulder, 24" sleeve, 22.75" back, 19" waist. When cinched halfway or two thirds of the way it has the perfect waist suppression. Personally I think halfbelt look their best when they're cinched; it makes for a more dramatic side profile and a better fit at the back. Fits me perfectly and form-fitting, in fact it shouldn't be any smaller or bigger anywhere (I'm 37"/29-30"). Due to the way Aero handle their information on exact jacket specs, I thought it best to wait for a preexisting jacket to turn up on the sale page (knowing their measurements there are accurate) that fitted my needs. Oh and the sleeves are very nicely cut. Narrow forearm and cuff and just enough room for movement in the upper arm. Armholes are nice and high.

I am a bit surprised. I also have a 7" drop between chest and waist. They had to make me a hybrid with a 40" chest tapering down to size 38 below the pits. Otherwise it would have been much too wide for me at the hem.

Well, I don't know their grading. The size 36 jackets in their 30s models on the sale page, viewed over the years, usually seemed fairly normal for the vintage industry standard. I did notice that the chest allowance varied a good deal, though, on the same 30s models with short-ish back.
The one I got is clearly not a hybrid size, though. There isn't that much waist suppression needed on a halfbelt. The 30s originals tend to have similar measurements, with a drop of only around 3-4" chest to waist uncinched. The cinching takes care of that.

I am not talking about waist suppression. The hem is what worried me. It was so loose on me it was just a horrible fit. My hybrid sized jacket fits as good as it gets, though.

On an industry standard size of a short halfbelt, at least on the small sizes, the hem isn't much different from the waist. Cinching makes the hem flare a bit and that's it. But again I wouldn't know about the grading. In industry standard sizes, the small sizes seem to have a higher drop, at least in tailoring.
